The Inaugural Rise & Thrive Breakfast By ENCOMPASS

Today I would like to promote an event coming up put on by a place close to my heart.  Encompass is a nonprofit organization here in North Bend that helps children and their families.  They serve North Bend, Snoqualmie, Issaquah, and Eastside communities.    They believe that from the start you teach a child to thrive , helping young children get the help they need early.  They know by starting young they are more prepared later on.    I have volunteered in several different places involving kids and I can say Encompass is awesome.   I have seen what they do and how they do it.  I cannot say enough of the love and care and effort they put in to show each child how important they are.  Each child is made to feel good about themselves and their achievements.

Valley Center Stage – A Rave!

I wanted to let everyone in the Valley or close enough to drive to North Bend of a little Gem I have found recently.  It has been here for years and I am sure I must have heard about but had never gone till last week.    It is the Valley Center Stage.  We went to see   “The Christmas Carol”, directed By Gary Schwartz, who also started the Theater.

The play was done in what is called “Story Theater Style”.    I really didn’t know what to expect.  I was very pleasantly surprised.  It was wonderful.    As I said in my first post about this, “my jaw actually hurt from smiling and laughing so much.  (A good kind of hurt! lol!)

The cast was great.  So many of them played several parts and narrated their parts as well.  There was singing and so much joy put out to the audience.  You could tell that the actors, both the adults and the kids involved loved what they were doing and they did it very well.  I have seen quite a few plays and I have see AThe Christmas Carol many times.  I can say that this version of The Christmas Carol is one of my favorites now.  The work and love of the art put it to it showed.    I looked around and everyone was smiling and laughing.    I even cried a tear or two for Scrooge played by Gary Schwartz.    (I don’t consider a movie or play or book to be any good if I don’t get a little bit of a cry out of it, lol.  It could be from being sad or just so much joy.(LOL!)

I finally after all these years reading or seeing it on TV realize that Scrooge wasn’t so bad as he was so sad.  But he finally saw his ways and turned himself around.

Thank you Valley Center Stage actors and director Gary Schwartz for such a great show and opening my eyes up to this form of Theater.  I am really looking forward to going to another show there soon.   I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Again the actors, and director and all the staff who were great also, thank you!  Happy Holidays!

If you don’t live near the area here, check your home town and see if you have one, I think you will find it very entertaining.

Happy Holidays!

THE WORLD NEEDS IT NOW

Dionne Warwick and Gene Pitney both passed on this song when offered it first, although Dionne later sang it in one of her albums.  Jackie DeShannon sang it first in 1965.  This applies yesterday, today and always.

“WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE”

This world is in desperate need of LOVE. Love for all life and this world we live in.  I am not saying we all will like each other but we can all respect the fact that we can all agree to disagree without killing each other. We are all different. We are all meant to be individuals. But as individuals we should all be able to work with each other without pushing our ideas on each other.  This is to keep the love of life and living going in a peaceful safe world. Color, race, nationality, religion, or size or any other reason other than the person is just not a good person should not matter or be used against anyone.  And it should not be used as an excuse for doing harm to anyone.

People will have different beliefs and ideas and not get along that is a given but why can’t we walk away from each other if we can’t resolve it.  The only reason it is a problem is because too many people try to push their ideas on others for power and money.  Greed kills love. In my opinion some of those people will get the power and money anyway because some people have that ambition and work for it.  But  if  you are killed you won’t be able to enjoy it anyway.

How can we judge someone we don’t know because their color or whatever is different? If we don’t know that individual how do we know that they won’t be a wonderful person?  We don’t so how do we justify Judgement like that?   Plus how many of us can honestly throw stones????   This judgement of others is one of the biggest things that kills love.

We now have our children growing up in violence armed with guns and hate. This is not how children should grow up. How can we stop it?  How can we get the world to be at Peace with one another so that everyone can live their life at least with the knowledge that they are safe?  I know I am not the only one that wants a PEACEFUL WORLD.

As we all know we have had a few shootings lately. It is horrible.   Our Police, Fire, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, AND ALL OTHER SERVICES involved in those fields  are there to PROTECT AND HELP US.  And maybe once in awhile you come across one that is not but that is not the norm.  We need these people and I know I Thank them every day for putting themselves out there in a world that doesn’t have all the love it should.  Remember you may need them one day, it can happen to anyone!

I watched the son of a man who was killed just recently get on TV and talk about the love we need not about getting even or revenge. GOD BLESS THIS WISE YOUNG MAN FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH and NOT LETTING THE HURT AND PAIN HE MUST FEEL BE HIS GUIDE.

Wishing PEACE AND LOVE to our beautiful world!

I will leave this rant with a quote!

“Each day is a gift. Cherish it. Use it wisely. Be grateful for it. Invest your time and energy to enhance your life and improve our world. This is your day. Make it count.”

Contemplation of One’s Mind

This is one of the thoughts poems.  I write these sometimes just to clear the cobwebs from my head.  I don’t edit them or use any form or style of poem.  Other than the rhyming there is not much structure.  It helps clear my mind.  Sometimes I type them and then toss them.  That is like getting rid of the bad thoughts because I am choosing to throw them away.  I find writing and journaling works  to help release thoughts and make room for new ones.  Have a Great Day!

Contemplation of one’s mind

Is not always so very kind

It usually is the truth but so hard to hear

Putting into one’s mind a bit of fear

Some tend to over think

it could make one crazy

and go over the brink

But as hard as it may be

It is important to see

That very important line

that no one should cross

is still where you stand behind

And you know you’re not lost.

APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH! A HOT SUMMER DAY

GOOD MORNING!   This is a revised version of a poem I posted last summer.  I am hoping for warmer weather soon as you can see!  Have a great day!

A HOT SUMMER DAY!

Waking up knowing the day will be filled with water and sun.

Swimming in the ocean, friends laughing, what could be more fun?

Splashing and chasing, giggles and shouts of joy,

it didn’t matter if you were a girl or a boy.

Through the eyes of your children seeing it again,

a reminder of yourself way back when.

And when it comes time for bed as you remembered,

they also fought it all the way as they lay down their weary head.

Their little eye lids so heavy they are asleep before goodnight is said.

And if you are very lucky and life goes as it should,

you will experience the feeling again with your grand kids which is very very good.

For those are memories that keep your heart happy and young,

and isn’t that what we want when all is said and done.

APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH! A WOMAN!

A Woman!

When I think about being a woman,

I think about wanting to be loved and romanced.

I think of flowers and perfume.

Especially being wined and danced.

I think of dirty laundry and so many blue jeans,

Two boys, three dogs, two cats, one rabbit with

schedules, feedings, and a full time job.

Let’s not forget my husband’s shirts to be ironed.

Not to leave out all the sports I have to watch,

Then I think of the feelings inside of me.

There is the pride, the warmth, the joy I feel

the hugs, kisses, most important the love I receive.

When I think of being a woman,

I think about what a gift this glorious feeling is!

And I thank God for making me a woman!

APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH! THE GUN

My poems were so different when I was young.  I started so many years ago and hid them all in a box.  I got rid of most of them.  In 1967 I had a great English teacher that believed in me.  She helped me get my first poem published.  It was published in a school magazine and also a book that you entered a contest to get in.  It actually has been republished several times.     I thought I would post it today and you can see there is a bit of a change in my thoughts, lol .  I would hope so since I will be 65 this year and if there is not change in our thoughts in all that time something is wrong!   Now 1967 for some might be too young to understand all that was going on at that time.  Some will remember too well.  I hope you enjoy!

THE GUN

Received at the tender age of two,

It is fake

Again at the age of eight, a new model but still not real

Now he’s taught that the gun is to kill

At fifteen a still newer model

But this time to hunt

At seventeen a better one yet

But this time it’s really out to get.

Not the deer, the rabbit, or a tin can

This target is a human man.

Shipped over to a far away place

Start shooting at every different face.

Died at the age nineteen with the gun that started his death at two.

This child could be any one of you.

A POEM FOR MOTHERS

A POEM FOR MOTHERS

(THIS IS ALSO FOR ALL STEP MOMS AND ADOPTED MOMS OR CARETAKER OF A CHILD. A MOM IS SOMEONE DEVOTED TO GIVING LOVING CARE OF A CHILD OR CHILDREN)

Mothers aren’t perfect and they sure aren’t given a manual on how to be. Some women become mothers because they want to and some don’t it just happens. Having a baby doesn’t make you a mother. Technically yes it does in the sense you have given birth but not in the sense of loving, teaching, and raising the children to be good people and most of all to know that they are wonderful and so very much loved.

BEING A MOTHER

A moment, your world changes, your life is dramatically different from this moment on.

A beautiful baby is put in your arms, you are no longer the child you are the mom.

That one moment transforms your world.

It doesn’t matter if it is a boy or girl.

For most of us that moment is sheer joy.

It is tempting to see it as a toy.

But now that you hold baby & daddy makes three.

The responsibility is mainly on thee.

Never again will life be the same.

To think it is better is no shame.

As a mommy there is so much joy and love.

This baby is something you will always be thinking of.

With this child you will grow so much.

This gift has such a special touch.

With that love may come some pain

It is all worth it that into your world this baby came.

It touches your life like no other.

There is nothing better than being a mother.

GOOD MORNING! GOOD MORNING! THE GARDEN DOES CALL!

This month is one of my favorite months because I love to work in the garden. I end up stiff as a board usually but I will dig in the dirt till I just can’t anymore.

Today is Sunny and going to be warm. It will be a good day to work in the garden. I just wish I could figure a way to outsmart the weeds. They are always ahead of me. I clean one area out and move to another, when I go back to check the first section the weeds are coming up again. What do you do? If only everything would grow so well.

Gardening is therapeutic. It is life coming up again and again and its results are beautiful. I hope you all enjoy my little jingle and have a wonderful day!

Good Morning, Good Morning, I say to you all.

Up at 5 am seems to be my call.

My garden waits for the work to get done.

It is waiting for me, I am the one.

I pick up the weeds that get in the way.

The flowers most definitely have something to say.

They are starting to bloom and want all the attention,

They are very spoiled did I mention?

The trees all need trimming so new buds will grow.

Sometimes it is too much work this I know.

But the pleasure of my hands in the dirt,

it is more than enough of an extra perk.

And then when the blooms do show their beautiful face.

I know that the garden is my very special place.

So I go out again at this early hour.

Hoping to see all the new plants start to flower.

Wishing that the weeds did not again appear,

that is always my biggest fear!!

And sure enough just as I thought,

they snuck up again, oh please tell me not!
