AGAIN I AM REMINDED!

Again I am reminded on how unexpected life is and the only for sure is that it will end.  In the last few years I have lost three very important people in my life.   They are at peace now so I am happy for them.    I realize more than ever how important it is to remember all the good things, learn from the bad and more on.  Live while you can.  That world has so much beauty and good in it if we look for it instead of looking at the bad always.  We already know we can find that.  It is wasted time we can never get back.  Being bitter and angry produces illness.  It robs us of precious time.  Being nice to people does not take money or good looks or higher education, not that it is bad to have any of those but it is not mandatory.  You get the same sense of satisfaction from a smile or a pleasant word back either way and  if you don’t you gave food for thought to a unhappy person.  Some times all someone needs is a smile to change their whole day from bad to good.  A kind word goes many many miles.

We will be healthier and happier through kindness.  The world needs this.  This is what will help bring peace.

As We Get Older!

I have heard many things about “As we get older”.    And I am now seeing a lot of these things happening as I get older.  One of them is loss.  The older I get the more loss I see.  There is not just older people either just people you know that seem to die young or old.

Of course we all expect to see our grandparents and parents go.  That is one of the hardest things.  My dad died when I was in my early 30’s  and then every now and then we would lose a friend or an uncle or two in a year.

I have started losing more and more friends.  And last year the very devastating loss of my mother.  So what does all this means.  It means that as I get older so does everyone around me and we are all approaching that age where people are dying at.

So what have I learned from this?  Well take good care of my health.  Be kind to others especially those you love their time may be soon and then they are gone.  It is too late to let them know how much you cared.      Because we never know when it is our time.

I also have learned that stress is  a big killer.  Every day I start my day now sitting outside listening to mother nature’s news cast for the day.  No TV. not even my music which I love and listen to all the time.  Music is medicine for the soul and mind and body.  But being outside sitting. listening, feeling the morning air at 5  or 6 am (or whatever time you get up will help start your day with calm and joy.  And hopefully more time to hang around with a good friend that just may not be around for long.   You may find something different that works better for you but keeping stress away from your life is critical.

Yes age does bring a lot to us, I just want to handle it with as much grace as I can and hopefully these old bones will take me  and my friends and family through to another day.  Thankfully I have discovered how to start my day right and I will be working on all the rest!   Have a Great Day!

To Our very special friend Chris V.  you will be missed and you most certainly will be remembered!

Life’s many roads and side streets!

I started this post about 4 times now and all going in different ways.  I was even thinking of giving up the blog all together since this last year my attendance to it has been so bad.  I have never been a daily blogger but so much has distracted me this last year and a half that all my writing has suffered.  Practice makes perfect but you have to do it to reach that.  And I am not a quitter so as I typed almost a whole page on it I realized I could not do that.

Then I started a page but it was a rant and I didn’t get too far when I realized that I didn’t want a negative post especially since I hadn’t been on for a while.    I always try to have positive posts unless it is something I feel is important enough to rant about.  As I deleted this page to start over I was lost in my head.  Where are my poems?  Where are my stories??   Why am I at that writer’s wall again or I should say still??

So, I started this yesterday, let’s see how far we get???? Lol!!!

I find that life has many roads and side streets to travel.  Some lead to nowhere, some lead to danger, some lead to wonderful things for us to see and experience.  It is our choice how we choose to react and learn from each turn we take.  And that is what many of the turn offs and side streets are for.  Learning!  It may be something we need to learn about ourselves or others but it is put there for that.  If we choose not to learn from it then it is our choice if the outcome isn’t what we wanted, we did choose it.  It takes some of us longer to remember that, and learn these lessons but bottom line is we make the choice.  Of course, there are circumstances that come that people cannot control such as illness, death, and other issues, but it is still our choice how we handle it.  I think this last year and a half this has been one of my lessons along with patience and letting go.  I think these are hard lessons but I see now I do have control to learn and grow from these lessons.   As I change the way I look at them I see the difference on how I handle them.  And  WORK is involved.   Work is a main tool in life.  If you don’t put in the work you won’t get very far.  I have always had good work ethics but I keep forgetting to apply it to all aspects in my life especially in myself on this journey of life and its many roads and side streets.  So I am rolling up my sleeves to dig in and do the work.

Now I came back to finish this morning and still not sure if this is what I wanted to write about when I got this in my mail I figured the timing was right:

“We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what’s wrong in your life, or you can focus on what’s right.”

– Marianne Williamson

I also want to thank all my followers who stick with me.  I really appreciate your support and patience.

To the bloggers out there who put out so many good posts and every day!  That is impressive!

FALL IS HERE

This is just a little fun thing I wrote a few weeks ago when I was telling my hubby that fall was here and he said he didn’t think Summer was over yet. LOL well Mother Nature always wins and Summer can try but Fall was given permission to come on in by Mother, LOL!

Fall is here

At least it’s near

Which no one seems to notice this year

Because still today

Summer is here to play

With its warm sunny days

But with deceptive ways

Sunny days shorter now but are too hot

Pretending fall is not here

Summer not wanting to get caught

Pretending that the evenings have not chilled

Or  tree leaves haven’t  started to change with colors filled

Mother Nature is ready to rearrange

She sets the stage of colors and conditions for fall to be

Usually it’s a very  vivid show and good for all to see

So now she has to push summer out

Because the show is ready to begin

And summer will fight her all the way

Because of course he wants it to be his day

Teasing us with the heat

He is sure he has fall beat

But of course it already shows

What everyone knows

No matter how much summer tries

Fall will come for summer’s demise.

A SHOUT OUT FOR ART AND ARTIST OF ALL KINDS!

A SHOUT OUT FOR ART AND ARTIST OF ALL KINDS!

Art is something that is different to everyone! It can be paintings, sculptures, pictures, books, poems, and music, and dancing. It can be made from many things and it can be many things to different people. Some people will look at something and not see art; some will look at the same object and see a beautiful piece of art. It is definitely in the eyes, ears, and other senses of the beholder. There are too many forms of art to list. So to all artists and their arts I want to shout out how grateful I am to have you and your works in our lives. And I know it is not an easy life. It takes hard work and discipline and dedication and a love for the work. And the pay is not always great! THANK YOU!

Art beautifies your life.   It stimulates your senses and brings out many thoughts and emotions.

So today I picked three different types of art that I would like to give some appreciation for the gift they give to art lovers.

I want to Congratulate Juan Abeti on his on-line magazine Xcelsior. It is a tribute to art by letting artist share their work, and giving the readers opportunities to see many different styles and forms of art. It takes a lot of work and dedication and time to do this. His magazine can be found at: http://madmagz.com/magazine/full/376303/hbgfd

I also thank him and his magazine for publishing my poem “Save the Poem” in the poetry section. This is a unique magazine and I am honored to have had a place in it.

Dancing is Poetry in motion!

The other artists today I would like to Congratulate and rave about are Kora Stoynova and Simeon Stoynov. They made the Finals at the World 10 dance championships!!! They are graceful art in motion!   They teach and work hard to compete and it shows. I have had the pleasure to watch them live several times and it is wonderful to see art in their movement.

Art for the ears!

I also want to thank the music world. Something that I use a lot is music. It is wonderful and can be healing and a balm for the soul. There are all kinds of styles of music available for all kinds of people. It doesn’t matter if you like my taste in music or I like yours because there is so much to go around for every one of all different likes.

So next time you see a picture or painting you like,  or hear a great song, or see some wonderful dancing or any other form of art that stimulates your senses and brings a smile to your heart, remember to think about the artist and what they had to do to accomplish that.

If you are not sure yet of the type of art you like there are museums, books, and other means to find some. Art enriches your life with pleasure. Enjoy some today!

APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH! INSPIRED BY THE ART

Have you ever seen a piece of art that struck  something inside of you.  It was so wonderful that you never could forget it.  There are some very gifted artist out there.  I saw a picture that did that for me.  It inspired this little ditty.   I was so lucky to get to see it.

INSPIRED BY THE ART

Today, I saw a Bright spot in the heavens,

Explosions of light inviting me to come up and play.

Something unique and exciting in the way of display.

Different dimensions sprinkled in and out ,

So many caverns to explore you wouldn’t know how to get about.

Dark spots in between,

Knowing that there is still beyond, another umpteen.

Places to be,

Wonderous things to see.

So hypnotizing,

to the point of mesmerizing.

The brilliant bursts of light,

the deepest shade of night,

In a spot in the heavens.

Made of so many little bits of glass,

Put together by an artist determined in his task

To create beauty that he sees

A true artist is he.

APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH: A CHANGE IN THE VIEW

A CHANGE IN THE VIEW

Six honking geese flew by me,

changing the direction I was going to see.

Opening my eyes to the other view,

knowing now what I have to do.

Weigh my options very well,

don’t let one line of vision the story tell.

Look at both directions to let you know,

all the different destinations you may go.

Opening your eyes all around,

is decision-making more profound.

It will be easier to decide this way.

In the end I did well I can say.

The Poetry Corner Untitled 1 January 28, 2014

Sometimes time slips away and things get left undone.
Sometimes it doesn’t matter, other times it hurts someone.
Even when one tries their best,
Something’s are sometimes too much.
But that does not mean we have to give up or lay down and die
It means to get up and keep going even if it makes us cry
That doesn’t mean it will work out as we want
It may not even work out as we thought
But so many times it works out for us what’s really best
And in the long run isn’t that what so many seek in their quest.
Taking you by the hand, that is when peace glides in.

THE PRISON

I have not progressed well in my word count for NaNo this year. A lot of distractions have circled around me and made camp. I remember the show Wagon Train when all the wagons circled around to protect themselves from attackers. Well I stayed in my circle but the distractions put one around me and I am working on finding a way out! LOL!

This year I am learning a lot and I wrote this about that:

“I think in this world you can be too young to learn some things. But Thank God we are never too old to learn many things that we need to learn!” Lg

This poem is about that for me. It is a bit long and dark but it was very enlightening for me! Sometimes things just come out of your head on to the paper as is!

The Prison
It was so cold and wet and the air smelled of human waste,
and of bodies which hadn’t seen or bathed in water, let alone had its taste.
Add to the mixture the smell of blood and death,
fouling the air so much you could not catch your breath.
It was the worst prison in the world, its warden the cruelest of cruel.
The fear was unbearable, but trying to fight it only made her a fool.
The warden had it out for her; she knew she could not stay.
In her thoughts she wanted freedom but believed there was no way.
Then it got to be that the battle was much too rough.
She began to cower and hide instead of getting tough.
The warden laughed as she shook with fear.
“This is my hell and to my music you will dance, my dear.”
She would wait until she found an open door
and one day it came and this life she could live no more.
This time she had to step outside to see,
where she could run and find a place to be free.
All she ever knew was this gnawing fear…
now she had the feeling her end was near.
The chance came up and she ran fast, leaving it all behind in the past.
She didn’t believe he could find her, but there he was and a thought did occur.
If she really tried she could hide
maybe he would go away, but she had to decide.
She now understood the truth; she would have to face the facts.
She would have to be very strong and take her life back.
It is time she stood up, this life was for her no more,
it was time for her to shut that prison door.
The fear was tearing her apart. It was breaking her heart.
No matter how hard she tried, there was no escape, so she cried.
Then one day a mirror she passed. The shock of what she saw made her gasp.
The warden of this pain and fear, all of a sudden became crystal clear.
She had the key all along. She had been told things all wrong.
This prison she had lived in all her life,
was in fact just herself that kept her in this strife.
At that moment the warden arrived again and he asked her to be his friend.
She laughed long and hard. She now knew she held the winning card.
She smiled a shining smile, telling him,
“It is to my music you will dance,
I win!”
